Portishead Juniors do Somerset Proud!

Writer's picture: Iain BourneIain Bourne

On Saturday eight of our juniors represented Somerset in the Wales and West Jamboree where they were pitted against the finest juniors in Devon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Glamorgan and Bristol. Set in the magnificent Great Hall at Bristol Grammar School they competed all day over three rounds.

In the U-18s Edward and Oliver both scored an outstanding 2/3 against strong opposition. In the U-14s Hugo was on a magnificent 1.5/2 and was unlucky not to be on 2/2 - but unfortunately I don't know how his last round game finished. In the U11s the Somerset team struggled - but they were much younger than the other teams, so all looks good for the future. In the U9s Jacob won all his game and helped Somerset come out top and take the trophy!

Even when things weren't going so well, the players supported each other, were gracious to their opponents and left even more determined to succeed! There's a lot more to come from these players!
