PORTISHEAD CHESSFEST
PARKING
There is nothing worse than going to a free festival and ending up with a £100 parking ticket!
Here are some helpful and cheap options for parking on Saturday at ChessFest on the Marina, Portishead.
-
Martingale Way. Drive along Harbour Road and the first on the left after Weatherspoons is Martingale way, as you drive up there you will see lots of car parks owned by Alliance homes, you can park there all day for free and it is so close to Aqua Zone 1. They are office car parks but it clearly says you can’t park Monday to Friday in office hours but the rest of the time anyone can park there, no problems. If you do park there, put Aqua on Google Maps and you should get there in a couple of minutes.
 -
Or you can go into the car park between Lidl and Waitrose if you drive to the back row it is free parking and you will see campervans parked there so if there are spaces then park there and then just cross over on the zebra crossing on Harbour toad to Aqua .
 -
Whilst you can park in Waitrose for 2 hours for free, you can actually down load ‘ just park’ and show you want to park for 10-5p, all day for £5.75 . or try other parking apps and you can prebook.
 -
Parish Wharf is very close to zones 2, 3, and 4 but you can only park 2 hours and then you are fined. There is a road that you drive up called Station Road which runs past the Leisure centre, and often there is free parking on there.
 -
If all of the car parks are full then you could park in any supermarket car park for 2 hours and then remember to move your car to a different car park two hours later.
 -
For those coming just for the play you could try to drive and park up in Burlington Road by the Ark of Angels.
