Yesterday saw the start of the Club's Training Sessions at the Albion.
These sessions are restricted to players who are playing or hoping to play for our league teams. During the summer, the sessions will start with a warm-up - six positions of increasing complexity for players to discuss. Matt, our club coach, or sometimes one of our A team players, will then deliver a presentation on some aspect of chess play: an instructive game, openings, tactics, strategy, positional play, endings etc. The final part will be more informal small group analysis according to interests.
Once the season restarts in the autumn, the primary focus will be on the analysis of league games and preparation for future matches and events.
