Portishead A team in action!

While many chess clubs barely meet at all, Portishead Chess Club aims to provide opportunities for everyone! Thanks to Jane’s efforts, all Portishead Primary Schools nieces have chess clubs through Chess in Schools & Communities with club tutors Steve, Jack, SJ and Jane transforming lives!

On Monday night we have our training session led very ably by our coach, Jack - everyone is welcome but the focus is on developing a deeper understanding of the game rather than playing games.

On Wednesday our B team travel to Cabot for their first game of the season.

Also on Thursday the A team travel to Thornbury for their second match of the season.

In both matches we are likely to be heavily out graded - but that doesn’t take into account Portishead spirit and rapidly improving young players!

On Friday, it’s the Junior and Adult clubs as usual! I hope to be there to review some of the 18 games played so far this season. Please turn up whether you are just starting out or an old hand!
