1st Portishead Junior Rapidplay
A six-round chess tournament open to anyone under the age of 18, with prizes for different age groups. This is a great place to start your journey into competition chess regardless of whether you already a star or just starting out!

About the event
As this is a rated event you must have an English Chess Federation membership - you can obtain this for free at https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-membership-rates-and-joining-details/.
There will be 6 rounds and you will play in all rounds (each round you will be paired against another player on the same score). The tournament is limited to 60 players - so enter soon!
You will have 15 minutes on the clock plus 15 seconds for each move made (don't worry if you haven't used a clock before - everything will be explained!) The tournament is run on the same lines as the Megafinals so this is a great opportunity to get some practice in!
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places as well as age group prizes and prize for best placed girl.
The entry fee is £10.00 and the deadline for entries is 18th January 2024. Your place can only be guaranteed once payment has been received.
