The Junior Club meets each Friday from 6-8pm (except during School Holidays) at Redcliffe Bay Hall, Newhaven Rd, Portishead, Bristol BS20 8LH and is open to anyone under the age of 18 (parents and guardians are welcome too!)

Club nights can involve tournaments, tuition, coaching, simultaneous displays and friendly games among friends!

In addition, we:

  • have Viper the Chess Robot to entertain and coach the children

  • 17 "Chess in Schools & Commuinities" trainied coaches

  • host the largest Junior Rapidplay tournament in the West twice a year

  • enter children into Club, School and County Chess Teams

  • stage ChessFest, each year - an open air celebration of chess with tournaments, displays, dramatic performances

  • organise Chess in Schools & Communities throughout Bristol and Somerset

  • ... and much more

... and for adults?

Each Thursday (19.30-22.00) we meet at The Windmill Inn, 58 Nore Road, Portishead for "Social Chess" and a glass of whatever you fancy.  Everyone is welcome regardless of strength with opportunities to play casual games, socialise and receive coaching (if you wish)..Just pop in and say hello!

On the first Saturday of each month we have "Brunch Chess" at Aqua on the Marina - friendly chess over a cup of coffee and maybe something to eat. Checkout our Facebook Page for details!

Finally, we also organise rated Competitions and have  three teams playing in the Bristol & District Chess League.

There's something for everyone, so come along! We're new, we're fun and we're different!
